This hilltop viewpoint offers unforgettable scenery of Cappadocia’s dramatic valleys, fairy chimneys, and volcanic rock formations and is especially popular for photography.
Continue to Pigeon Valley, a picturesque valley stretching between Göreme and Uçhisar. Named after the thousands of pigeon houses carved into the soft volcanic cliffs, the valley offers a peaceful atmosphere combined with beautiful natural views and historical character.
Next, travel south to the impressive Ihlara Valley, formed by volcanic eruptions from Mount Erciyes and known as the largest canyon in Cappadocia. The valley is home to ancient churches and monastic dwellings carved into the rock walls. Enjoy a leisurely walk of approximately one hour along the river, surrounded by greenery and dramatic canyon scenery.
During the tour, stop at Belisirma, a charming riverside village, where you can enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant set beside the flowing river.
The tour concludes with a visit to Selime Monastery, located at the end of Ihlara Valley. As the largest monastery complex in Cappadocia, this remarkable site features a massive rock-cut cathedral and living quarters that reflect layers of history from the Hittite, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods.
